f700,000. to Mr George Hughes, who was Duple's deputy chairman and group managing director under Mr Frank B. Ford. Announcing this on Tuesday, the Duple Group stated that Mr Ford would assume the title of group managing director in addition to that of chairman, to replace Mr Hughes.

Mr Hughes has become chairman of Willowbrook Ltd, and has appointed Mr George Payze and Mr Denis Foster, both formerly with the Duple Group, to the board of directors, Mr Foster becoming marketing director. Mr Brian Stacey

Mr Hughes told CM on Wednesday tha he liked Willowbrook, which was a "nio compact factory", and was very please( with the way the bus side of the business har been building up. There were no plans fo immediate changes of policy, althougl greater attention was being paid to thi export side of the business.

Meanwhile, the Duple Group, acquirer last August by Mr Frank B. Ford for Elm is to rationalize its production in th Blackpool area, where official approval ha been received to erect a further 50,000 sq f extension at Vicarage Lane, A "very activ+ but costly research and developmen programme" is reported to be well unde way. The loss-making Duple Auto Ice Ltr branch has also moved to Blackpool.
