ICC Express, which is being launched this week from a hub in Kings Heath, says it is looking for about 50 agents throughout the country. Franchisees will pay a one-off licence fee of .M,200 in return for a liveried company van. This will initially probably be a Ford Escort, but franchisees could graduate to a Transit or 7.5-tonner as business improves, says general manager Farman Wilkinson.
ICC will trunk parcels to and from its hub using 10 Iveco Ford Cargos and will also handle invoicing on behalf of franchisees who will pay only for fuel and insurance.
Typical recruits are likely to be local courier firms or drivers working for parcels companies who want to start up on their own, says Wilkinson.
ICC replaces a previous business, European Parcel Services, which ran direct deliveries using its own vehicles.
