• Inter-city coach operator National Express Group returned to profit in the 24 weeks to 31 December 1991.
The privately owned company, which was acquired last year by a consortium of investors, reported a £3.58m pre-tax profit on sales of £56.1m.
It had gone into the red following the 1988 management buyout from the National Bus Company with losses of £4.2m during 1990. But the group says the figures were not comparable to previous periods because of a restructuring programme.
