FROM INFORMATION that is to hand, it appears that the S.M.M.T. is to give its blessing to a commercial-vehicle and touring car show to be held in Glasgow in January next. There appears to be nothing with'which to quarrel in such a decision. But there is rumour of a disquieting nature, to the effect that those who are to be responsible for the exhibition intend to allow no manufacturer, who has his head offices elsewhere than in Scotland, to be represented except by means of an agent. This may be all very well so far as the agent is concerned, but it appears to introduce a very undeSirable differentiation as between maker and maker. We know of no similar bar in respect of the exhibitions at Manchester, or London, which would h-ave the effect of cutting out the Scottish manufacturer should he desire to be represented directly. Ito;vill be interesting to learn what are the finally-considered intentions of the Glasgow directorate. The decision to support it, directly or indirectly, we learn, so far as certain leading British manufacturers are concerned, -rests entirely on the terms of Inch decision.
