• As Commercial Motor went to press details of two failed companies were emerging. Nantwich, Cheshire-based Gamford Liquid Logistics' estate is in the hands of trustees Knights & Co; and Birmingham-based Stealthfreignt is in liquidation.
Gamford Liquid was operated by Thomas Moir, who is understood to have been a sole trader. His liabilities could approach 2500,000.
The reasons for Gamford's failure are believed to include the high value of sterling, the contraction of the market, overseas competition and increased running costs. The company's main business is thought to have been moving dairy produce—it ceased trading in July.
CM has been unable to contact Stealthfreight, but Com
panies House records show that it 'is now in liqudation.
One Birmingham operator says it was quite a small business with around10 vehicles on lease hire. The directors are listed as Phillip Morris and Gary Williams.
