ALL EURO-4 VOLVO, Renault and Mack engines of nine litres and above will have British-made electronic unit injectors (EUIs), supplied by Delphi from its Storiehouse, Gloucestershire plant.
The EUls for Euro-3 Volvo D9, D12 and D16 diesels are dual-sourced from Delphi and Bosch. But only Delphi's E3 injector design, with its patented second nozzle control valve, is able to provide the injection 'rate shaping' neces sary for the fuel economy standards demanded by Volvo within the constraints imposed by Euro-4 legislation.
Two-valve E3 technology has been specified by Daf for the 12.9-litre MX engine announced in Hanover.
Delphi E3 EUls have also been specified for the 11-litre engine to be produced under the Renault name at the group's refurbished Venissieux plant in France, for use in the Premium range.
