Police seek clues to crack egg case

POLICE ARE HUNTING a gang of thieves who kidnapped two security guards before stealing seven trailers containing £500,000 worth of Cadburys chocolate from a Great Bear Distribution depot in Lancashire.
At around 1.30am on Sunday (3 October), the offenders threatened the security guards with coshes. tied them up and drove them five miles to Staveleys Egg Farm in Latham where they were held in a field. Later on, a third victim was taken to the farm after he was found sleeping in his truck at the depot. Meanwhile seven trailers each contain ing £80,000 of chocolate, including Easter eggs, were stolen from the Skehnersdale site.
Police have now recovered four of the trailers minus their loads. Three trailers, one belonging to P&O Ferry-masters.one to McB urney Transport and the other to Profresh Solutions, are still missing.
DI Steve Ash urst from Skelmersdale CID says: -The men were not physically hurt but are obviously shaken up by their ordeal. We are appealing to the public for any information they may have in relation to this very serious incident. In particular. did anyone see anything suspicious in the early hours of the morning around these two areas, or have they seen one of the missing trailers?"
