CITYSPRINT. HAS acquired courier firm Road Runners (Swindon) for an undisclosed sum, marking its sixth purchase in under two years.
The purchase includes a fleet of 40 vehicles and improves CitySprint's coverage of Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
Mike and Audrey McCartney, co-owners of Road Runners, have also moved to CitySprint to ensure continuity.
The pair decided to sell in order to offer customers better UK-wide coverage.
"We are committed to the continued growth of our business, both organically and through carefully selected acquisitions," says CitySprint chief executive Patrick Gallagher.
Between late 2008 and March 2010, CitySprint snapped up the assets of five rivals. The latest acquisition comes after the courier revealed it experienced 18% revenue growth for the six months to 30 June, compared with the first half of 2009. During the same period, it also saw pre-tax profit rise by 32%.
