Nick Jones ruled that a new Cardiff-based haulage firm, West One Overnight, had created false paperwork and initially had no licence interim or otherwise after it bought the business and assets of related firm West One Express, which went into administration in January with debts of about £1.4m.
Robert Wilcox, MD at Massey Wilcox, says of the case: "I have witnessed a failed company [West One] continue to operate displaying an 0-licence from the old company but trading as the new. This should not happen. Why aren't these prominently reported companies having their vehicles pulled over by VOSA? Genuine companies who have suffered bad luck should have one chance, but no more after that."
