Both Scania and MAN announced new additional fleet support packages.
MAN's Million Mobility does what it says on the tin: it's an extensive mobility warranty for one million kilometres (or eight years) for both new and used trucks, and applies throughout Europe.
In the event of a breakdown, the driver calls MAN Mobile24; if the truck cannot be repaired at the roadside, it will be towed immediately and free of charge to the nearest MAN workshop and repaired. If the repair is expected to take more than 12 hours, MAN will either provide a free replacement truck or pay compensation of €150 a day (up to a maximum of three days).
No date for the service's UK introduction has been set yet.
Meanwhile, from early next year Scania will offer a fleet-management service on all its trucks. It is available at three levels: • A basic monitoring report, emailed to the operator • Deeper KPI analysis, accessed by the web • That same analysis combined with real-time tracking and geofencing, accessed by the web.
It is unclear what the UK position is, and whether a 'delete' option is available. China's Anhui Lualing Automotive Company had a pair of CAMC trucks on show. The HN3250 tipper boasts an in-house 366hp slx-cylinder engine certified to Euro-2, while the HN4250 6x4 tractor has a Euro-4 Cummins ISMe 4 420 engine and ZF transmission. No staff were available to give details of its marketing plans. Many of the styling cues appear to be a tribute to Scania.
