Michelin's Get into the Groove campaign highlights the benefits of regrooving tyres; its truck tyres are designed with regrooving in mind. They are equipped with an lundertread' — a layer of rubber thick enough to regroove.
Intact, the LGV tyres have five lives: new, regrooved, remixed, regrooved, and retreaded. Michelin claims that a regrooved tyre wears more slowly than a new tyre because of reduced tread movement. Reg rooved tyres are also said to cut fuel consumption by up to 10% thanks to reduced rolling resistance.
