• New high-volume drawbar and artic combinations have entered long-haul service with international operators David Croome and Davies Turner.
Croome has invested over £500,000 in four Volvo F12 rigs and 16 swap bodies from Dutch bodybuilder Heering for working into Russia.
Esteppe fitted top sleeper pods, ARE retarders and trailer couplings: the 5.8m bodies have a pole-type double floor system that can be set anywhere within
its 3.0m height. Low-profile
19.5in tyres help meet the 4.0m continental height limit.
Davies Turner's first stepframe artic is a 13.6m GRP Stocks Transport Engineering box van equipped with 100 hanging garment rails and made to import clothes from Turkey as part of Drs established UK-Istanbul fleet.
It is based on an Overlander chassis with tri-air suspended RO-R running gear and runs on 17.5in wheels.
