Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Royal Mail is to begin economy trials on an aerodynamically designed 38-tonne artic and two 1.5-tonne vans in October. This follows the launch of the first two 17-tonne Leyland Daf Freighters which have a series of Green features, including windcheating bodies, and particulate traps.

The first Freighter, which Royal Mail unveiled at last year's Birmingham Motor Show, has a body by the now defunct Besco. It has a speed limiter, ABS, air suspension, low-profile tyres and automatic chassis lubrication. The other Freighter is being bodied with a similar design by Cartwright of Cheshire.

The Cartwright version will have an engine as yet untried in an operational vehicle. It will be more fuel efficient than the standard 134kW (180hp) 61.82 in the first Freighter, says Royal Mail's head of road transport Ray Hayfield.

The Leyland Daf 95 Series artic's semi-trailer is also being built by Cartwright. It will be joined by two 1.5-tonne 200 Series vans with left-hand drive so employees can get out of the vehicle to make deliveries without endangering other road users, says Hayfield.
