• Car transporter company 4nsa Logistics is on the brink of -atifying a new five-year deal for ts employees after more than a year of negotiations with union eaders.
Ansa, which delivers Ford cars and vans, was threatened with industrial action earlier this year over plans to axe nearly a third of its 470-strong workforce (CM7-13 February).
But Ron Webb, Transport & General Workers Union national secretary for road transport, says the new deal will both improve productivity and safeguard jobs.
"I am satisfied we have reached this agreement in the full belief and knowledge that our members will have continuity of employment for the next five years." He says that terms and conditions have "in the main" been left intact but declined to comment further until a formal announcement about the deal is made. This is expected when a new five-year contract between Ford and Ansa is confirmed, probably on Wednesday (14 August) when Ansa's parent company AutoLogic Holdings announces its annual results.
