At the end of November in Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, two men convicted of several offences of obtaining loads by deception got off with 240 hours of community service and a 12-month conditional discharge respectively. The policeman who ran the investigation that caught them is not impressed.
Det Inspector Dave McKelvey says: "The CPS is appealing against that sentence, which just didn't seem adequate to us."
The investigation to catch the pair involved setting up a dummy load in a truck and subsequently catching them red-handed.
