THE WASTE COLLECTION company Cleanaway is to be sold by Australia-based parent group Brambles less than two months after rumours of a possible sale were emphatically denied.
Clean a way has a UK fleet of 2,000 specialist vehicles that remove waste for municipal, industrial and commercial customers, and employs 8,000 people.
Speculation about a sale was fuelled by the sale of Cleanaway's German operation to waste business Sub o for £387m (CM 27 October).
Brambles says that it is selling Cleanaway's remaining UK, Australian, New Zealand and Asian operations in order to focus on its pallet-leasing and datemanagement subsidiaries, which are more profitable.
Cleana way is one of the Li K-s largest waste collection firms, and is thought to he worth £470m,
