VOLKSWAGEN PLANS to unveil the new Crafter range of light CVs at the CV Show next April. The Crafter replaces the LT in the VW line-up. It will be powered by a new five-cylinder common-rail engine developing up to 164hp and driving through a new six-speed manual box as standard. An auto option will he available.
Like its predecessor, • the Crafter shares a platform with the Mercedes Sprinter, although VW has opted for more aggressive styling, in line with the rest of its van family.
VW is claiming a maximum load capacity of 7m3 for the biggest Crafter; the five-tonne GVW version has a payload of 2.6 tonnes.
