• More restrictive "spray protectors" (wings at rear axles) are proposed in a new safety regulation for road vehicles suggested by the American Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety. Under the new rule rear wheels would have to be continuously shielded from ahead of the highest point of the tyre to a point near the road surface at the rear. The upper, outer edge of the "spray protector" could a)so have to come far enough down the side to be level with the top of the tyre.
