Those readers, and we know who you are, who just look at the headline fuel consumption figure of our road tests before moving swiftly on will miss the point of the Renault Premium Lander eight-leggen True, the fuel economy of this example barely off the production line, with an overall consumption of 705mpg, is mildly disappointjng but that apart, the Landers balance sheet js heavily weighed down on the positive side.
On the down side are things such as the badly sited park brake and an annoying sun visor. We doubt whether many buyers will choose the hub-reduction axle set up either.
The other side of the scale, though, contains elements such as a flexible and wilting engine, an automated box that's as good as they get and a remarkably civilised driving experience.
The safes charts show that the Renault brand doesn't show on the radar of as many potential buyers as it could. The Premium Lander, though, is good enough to persuade any operator that they should consider the French connection.
