In the annual reports of the Licensing Authorities, 869 cases are quoted involving maintenance, and having perused all the cases reported in CM over the period, also reports on accidents, it is evident that the majority were due to lack of inspection and also lack of inspection records.
In your own excellent White Paper Casebook article (CM, April 22) I quote as folows:

All these depend upon a first-clasF, inspection discipinie, Therefore I am always very pleased to read of firms using a classical engineering approach, with an independent inspection discipline (incidentally, a pivot for the practice of terotechnology) and such a firm is Renwick, which has recently advertised for a Vehicle Inspector whose basic duties are to monitor engineering and maintenance standards.
