• The use of an untaxed vehicle without an 0licence cost CF Freight of Bishop Auckland fines, costs and back duty, of L10,93323 when it appeared before Macclesfield magistrates.
Prosecuting for the DOT, John Heaton said a 38-tonne Volvo artic was directed into a check on the A565 at Rosthenie. An expired vehicle excise licence disc was displayed in the windscreen with an 0-licence identity
disc issued to a Terence Finley. Inquiries revealed that the company did not hold an 0-licence.
In a letter to the court admitting the offences, the company said that it did not own any vehicles. The vehicle had been hired to a Peter Robinson, a director of the company at the time, and was being used on company work.
The magistrates fined the company £7,000 for using an untaxed vehicle and 1500 for using it without an 0-licence. They also ordered it to pay £3,358.33 back duty and .C75 prosecution costs.
