introduced on the routes of the Mexhorough and Swinton Traction Co. Weekly 12-journey tickets and the prepaid workmen's tickets were abolished and 2d. and nd. tickets became 21d. and 4d. Publishing the new rates, the company points out that the revisions are unlikely to meet the full cost of estimated increases in operating costs. Only trolleybuses are operated by this undertaking.
It is believed that the Eastern National Omnibus Co.. Ltd., and its associated companies in north Essex are likely to follow the lead of the Eastern Counties Omnibus Co., Ltd., and apply for a second general revision of charges. The Eastern National concern was granted variations last August.
Sanction to charge higher rates on excursions and tours is being sought by Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., which was last week granted these increases in respect of 15 tours in south Scotland. Application has been made concerning a further 17 tours starting from Edinburgh.
Slight revisions to children's fares and an increase of 25 per cent, on the charges applicable to services run after normal hours have been proposed by the Lincolnshire Road Car Co., Ltd., in the East Midland Traffic Area. In all, 39 routes are affected.
Todmorden Corporation has received permission to amend charges on 10 routes. Permission to vary rates on services jointly operated with Halifax Corporation has been withheld until a ,decision has been reached on the Halifax application.
