A'" ultimatum" from a bus.company's staff that they would not run • a service between Woodseaves and Wolverhampton, because Ministry of Transport inspectors were spying on them, was referred to at Wolverhampton, last week.
G. H. Austin and Sons, Ltd., Woodseaves, was summoned for failing to carry a conductor on a stage carriage built to carry more than 20 passengers.
Mr. W. B. C. Forsyth, for the company, said that so great were the staffing difficulties that on the day when the offence was alleged to have been committed, the company had the alternative of running the bus without a conductor or not running it at all. Application had now been made for permission to discontinue the service from Woodseaves to Wolverhampton.
The stipendiary imposed a fine of 110, with 13 18s. costs.
