Drivers in dispute over holiday and overtime pay with Dutch-owned haulier Edcrest have won their claim with the company agreeing to pay them £800 each.
Fourteen drivers at the Sittingbourne head office were claiming back pay of between £1,200 and £3,000 over disputed waiting times at border crossings and overtime (CM 612 April). The company had also tried to reduce the drivers' paid holiday entitlement.
Transport & General Workers Union official for Kent, Wally Bradley, who is representing the drivers, says the agreed payments will stop the driver's claims going to a tribunal that was to be held later this month.
Edcrest distributes LDV vans for Leyland Daf and has a number of other long-haul European accounts, including white goods manufacturer Whirlpool.
