• International hauliers running to Greece through Austria are facing a shortage of Eco transit permits, forcing them to detour For hundreds of miles via the former Yugoslavia.
This year Austria has reduced its transit charges to hauliers From £150 to £1 5, leading to a dramatic increase in transit traffic, but international hauliers with older, more polluting trucks have to carry additional permits. Austria has promised to cut the numbers of permits allowed in a bid to force hauliers to switch to newer, cleaner vehicles.
