• A track failure in the Channel Tunnel coupled with a strike by SeaFrance ferry staff led to the closure of the M20 for more than 20 hours last week. The motorway was closed between Junctions 11 and 12 to provide parking for trucks heading for Dover and the Chunnel.
A spokeswoman for Eurotunnel says one of the rails close to the tunnel entrance moved out of line and took two hours to put right. SeaFrance, which runs one freight and three passenger ferries from (lover, says the strike was prompted by a dispute over the introduction of a 35-hour week.
