ONE. in three lorries using roads in North Yorkshire is overloaded.

The claim comes after a clamp-down on commercial vehicles in the county.

So far, 195 drivers have been cautioned and 50 have been prosecuted. Another 28 cases are pending.

Of the 38 per cent of vehicles found to be overweight, some were carrying as much as 25 per cent more than their legal limit,
