Ryder and United settle pay Transcare waits

• wage deals at Ryder Logistics and United Carriers have been settled although talks on pay at Tibbett & Britten's Transcare operation have been adjourned.
About 600 drivers and warehouse staff at Ryder Logistics have been promised a threeyear package. The deal equates to a 3°0 increase for 1997, and then staff will receive 10., over the Retail Price index for the following two years.
The Transport & Getter al Workers Union. which negotiated the deal, says it is "quite pleased with the outcome".
However, a national agreement at parcels firm United Carriers, gives drivers only a 2.5".•0 increase this year. This represents a decrease for staff who received a 3.2°.0 rise last year.
