T have studied at great 'length the debate on 40-44 tonners and I am a bit mystified. They said at 24 tonnes we should go to 30 tonnes because it would be more economical, then to 38 tonnes The road haulage industry is no better off now,
If the haulier was paid a decent rate for his job and on time they might be able to plan and run the job better.
Some firms have paid peanuts over the past couple of years yet they expect hauliers to spend a fortune on equipment.
I have had 38 years in the industry, and I never thought I would see it get so bad. You can rest assured that the people who pay out for 44 tonners will not make a penny from it.
