ADBLUE PRODUCER Yara International has begun using ships to distribute its urea-based additive across Europe.
AdBlue is the additive required by trucks running SCR technology to meet emission standards.
The first shipment of AdBlue, marketed under the Air1 brand, arrived in Immingham on 31 October on the 6,450-tonne AN Ingrid Jakobsen.
Rolf Isberg, director of the AdBlue programme, says: "Yaras experience of using sea-going vessels will bring to our Air1 customers across Europe a superior supply system that will
guarantee them outstanding reliability of delivery."
This was the first ever bulk shipment of AdBlue by any sea-going vessel—it had previously been moved by road or rail.
Air-1's operation at Immingham has the capacity to store five million litres of AdBlue, which will be forwarded on to its customers in bulk, intermediate bulk containers or drums. Airl UK
business manager Paul Norman says: "Our Air1 handling facility at Immingham is ideally located to
supply the UK haulage industry via our network of 14 distribution depots across the country."
