• West Midland Licensing Authority John Mervyn Pugh has warned Kid derminster-based Derek Dixon about the maintenance of his vehicles.
At disciplinary proceedings DOT vehicle examiner David Allen said that Dixon, who was authorised for 10 vehicles and 12 trailers, had a poor annual test record. Test station staff had been concerned about the condition of a trailer presented for annual test in December 1991. Until last January maintenance had been carried out by Dixon's own staff but there had been problems in that area and the maintenance was now contracted out. In March a vehicle was issued with a prohibition for neglect.
Allen said that he was confident that Dixon would heed advice given.
Mervyn Pugh warned that new systems would only work if vehicles were in Al condition to start with, and Dixon said that he would be willing to put his vehicles through annual test.
Giving Dixon a warning, Mervyn Pugh said he wanted every vehicle and trailer to be put through a fresh MOT test, apart from any tested in August and September. The MOT Certificates must be sent to the Traffic Area. Dixon will be called to a further public inquiry when the licence comes up for renewal next September.
