• A haulage firm and its driver were fined a total of £300 for a cracked mirror.
West Bromwich magistrates fined Nightfreight GB of Thatcham, Berks £100 with £65 costs. Driver Geoffrey Craker of Zinzan Street, Reading, Berks was fined 2200 with 265 costs.
The firm admitted the offence; the case against the driver was proven in his absence.
In a letter to the court Nightfreight said Craker failed to report the cracked mirror as he drove the lorry out of its depot.
