▪ International Container Movements, of Rayleigh, Essex, withdrew its application for a new international licence for 10 vehicles and 10 trailers just before it was due to be considered at an Eastbourne public inquiry.
Insufficient rest
• Brian Wall, a driver employed by Sleaford-based John Mann International, was fined .a35 when he appeared before the town's magistrates. Wall admitted failing to take sufficient daily rest.
Licence suspended
I Bolton-based Graham McGlynn's licence was suspended when he failed to attend a reconvened public inquiry before North Western TC Keith Waterworth (CV/ 1319 August).
Bail refused
• Lancashire lorry driver Stephen Harper, of Crofter's Fold, Heysham, has been refused bail by Manchester city magistrates. He is accused of smuggling drugs worth Dm into the UK.
