FOR THEIR "terrible and savage" assault on a bus driver and conductor, Oliver Wrigley, 22, labourer, of Hope Street, Turnbridge, Huddersfield, and Frederick Hemingway, 20, cranedriver, of Gilbert Grove, Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, were each fined £30 at Huddersfield Borough Court last week. Both pleaded guilty.
The court was told that the conductor, Mr. Ghoulam Rasul and the driver Mr. Mohammed Hanif were both unconscious for five hours after the attack. It took place on the 10.56 p.m. bus from the town centre to Sheepbridge. Four youths pushed Mr. Rasul down the stairs and left him unconscious on the pavement. When Mr. Hanif went to see what was happening he was struck and kicked.
