• Liverpool City Council plans to operate a 75,000-tonne-ayear rubble transfer system from Tuebrook in the city, creating work for up to 15 trucks a day. But angry residents objecting to the scheme stopped trucks from moving in or out of the council-owned site at the end of Breckside Park cul-de-sac in Tuebrook last week.
Residents, who thought the land would be used for housing, have presented Liverpool City Council with a 200-signature petition.
