THE JOINT administrator for Stansfield Transport confirmed that no offers had been received for the West Yorkshire businesses Commercial Motor went to press.

The Brighouse haulage business went into administration on 19 August, along with its parent company Now Industries Group. Its operations manager blamed staff for setting up a rival firm and undercutting contracts worth 1.5m (CM 1 September).

Lloyd Biscoe, for administrator Begbies Traynor, says Stansfield's total debts are still unknown — he has requested a statement of affairs, but has not yet received it. Biscoe reports that 34 vehicles will be sold at auction and a creditors meeting will be held in the next couple of months.

It is understood that 34 drivers and 11 office staff and warehouse workers lost their lobs at the Brighouse depot; another 40 lobs were lost at Stansfield's sister company, Essex-based MSD Distribution.

The goodwill of loss-making MSD now been acquired from the administrator and is trading as the Now Group.
