TRUCK AND van registrations continued their upward trend in August, rising by 23% and 22.8% respectively, according to the latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
Truck registrations were up 23% to 2,411 in August and 22.6% to 39,493 in the rolling year. Growth continues to be driven by three-axle artics (up 83% in the rolling year) and rigids over 16 tonnes (up 18.7%). DAF inished the month just shy of a 28% market share, with registrations up 73%. In the year, DAF has a 25.3% market share, with registrations at 40.8%. Iveco had a good month, inishing second, at 13.8%, with registrations up 166%.
Van registrations were up 22.8% to 10,640 in August, and up 21.9% in the rolling year to 250,710. SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt says: “Shortto medium-term economic uncertainty is likely to temper future growth.”
