Inspectorate in a bid to weed out any unlicensed HCVs being used on its contracts.
"It is believed that the construction and waste haulage industry attracts a relatively high proportion of these illegal operators," says HA chief executive Lawrie Haynes. "The few who flout the law are not wanted by the Agency."
The HA will help the VI arrange checks by notifying it of roadworks sites which will generate HGV traffic.
It will also introduce a contract condition that contractors' and subcontractors' vehicles must carry documentation identifying the 0-licences under which they operate.
