he Vehicle Inspectorate has mblished its summary of safety 'eon campaigns for the first lalf of this year, together with a ew missed from the previous )ulletin. Unsurprisingly, with the arger volumes involved, the van iector sees the largest recalls.
The Renault Kangoo recall waived 18 months' worth of woduction, as these vans can ;uffer from a faulty control unit ieploying the air bags or seat selt pre-tensioners.
Following the recall last )ecember of the Citroen Aspatch, the identical Fiat icudo and Peugeot Expert models were summoned for attention to possible failure of the vacuum pump drive, causing a loss of braking assistance. The larger Sevel vans have a problem with potentially inadequate fuel tank mountings. At the heavier end of the market, two separate problems affecting Seddon Atkinson products have the potential to cause loss of steering control. MAN has the greatest number of individual recalls, with three prob lems relating to axle mountings, brake relay valves and an overefficient air cooling pipe.
If you think your vehicle may be affected you should contact the manufacturer's customer service department.
