• TNT Europe's Hornsey, London depot has had a condition imposed on its licence banning the use of a road at specific times The company had applied to renew the licence without modification for 320 vehicles and 91 trailers with depots at Aylesford, Maidstone, Stanwell, Weybridge and Hornsey.
The licence authorises 50 vehicles and 10 trailers at the Hornsey depot, located at the Cranford Way Industrial Estate.
Representations and a petition were received from residents of Uplands Road, which lies at the back of the site. The residents expressed concern about the noise created by the depot.
For TNT, Michael Cunningham told the South Eastern & Metropolitan Deputy Traffic Commissioner John Stevenson that there was no material change to the company's previous licence, Discussions had been held with residents and the local authority and the company was prepared not to use the road at the back of the depot from 21:00 to 07:00 hours.
Granting the licence, Stevenson said that TNT had clearly done everything it could to meet the residents' concern. However, he felt that it would be better to formalise TNT's promise by attaching a condition to the licence.
