ONE OF EUROPE'S few remaining "unattached" truck manufacturers— MAN Nutzfahrzeuge — has formed a "strategic alliance" with US truck, bus and engine maker Navistar International.
They will collaborate on the design, development, sourcing and manufacturing of components and systems for CVs, including a range of diesel engines.
MAN boss Hakan Samueisson says the North American partnership will allow it to "reach worldclass volumes for systems and heavy truck engines, giving us considerable synergies, economies of scale and flexibility in supplying plants."
Both companies will remain independent entities while enjoying greater efficiencies through high combined volume inrnanufacturing and sourcing, as well as through shared development costs.
Navistar had previously been linked to Scania and Iveco.
