• For the first time a one-piece self-contained refrigeration unit is being offered by the Hubbard Engineering Co Ltd, of Martlesham, Woodbridge, Suffolk. The Hubbard 600 unit is intended for front bulkhead mounting on bodies from 15 to 3011 long.
An independent air-cooled diesel engine powers the unit, although a three-phase electric standby facility is incorporated. Operating as it does independently of the vehicle engine, the 600 unit is also suitable for container applications.
A high-output alternator provides power for starter battery charging, evaporator fans and drain pan heating. The electric evaporator fans eliminate the need for defrost shutters and assist in achieving even temperature distribution.
For a box temperature of 35deg F, the rated capacity of the unit is 10,000 BTU/hr. For frozen foods, the rating falls to 6,500 BTU/hr. The 600's weight is 6501b and its list price £1125.
