Leeds lorry driver Clive Barwell, of Clyde Chase, Wortley, appeared at Leeds magistrates court last week charged with 17 violent offences against women. He was remanded in custody until 27 July.
Barwell, 41, is charged with seven attacks on women in Leeds, Bradford, Doncaster, Nottingham and Leicester between 1982 and 1995. Other charges against him include attempted murder, kidnap and rape.
He was working as an HGV driver when police arrested him on 20 March following an inquiry involving West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire police. The attacks were also featured on BBC's Crimewatch.
