Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOLLOWING A DIRE time for secondhand pickups, the market has demonstrated significant signs of recovery, according to Glass's Guide chief commercial vehicle editor, George Alexander.

'With more manageable numbers of double-cab versions doing the rounds, as the buyers' appetite for off-road vehicles returns, the past few months have been buoyant," he reveals.

Leading the way, with the help of realistic prices for 4x4s is Toyota's HiLux. "Although thin on the ground, both the new and oldstyle range are eagerly sought out by both trade and end user alike.

Alexander continues: "Elsewhere, benefiting from having plenty of toys, Mitsubishi's L200 lifestyle models have performed quite well, recovering some lost ground."

More traditional workhorse 4x2s and 4x4s have also shown signs of improvement — when the price is right. Latest-style L200s and Rangers, in clean condition with low miles, have little difficulty grabbing sensible bids.

"Recently. a small fleet of latest shape Rangers was well received," he says. "Low volume has contributed to this revival, with some manufacturers reporting that they scarcely have enough used stock for their own networks."

Supplies of older workhorses are running out, since new sales have recently concentrated on leisure-oriented specifications. ti
