• Several new safety features for all Transit models are included in a list of specification changes for the range announced by Ford today.
All Transits — both standard and Custom models — now feature dual-line brakes, four-way hazard warning flashers and larger rearview mirrors.
In addition, a brake vacuum servo booster becomes standard equipment on all models featuring the 2.0-litre V4 petrol or
2.4-litre high-rated diesel engine.
Other new features include a heater shut-off valve, scuff plates, bright metal hub caps and headlamp bezels, and embossed pvc door trim. Examples of the revised recommended retail prices are Transit 75 standard van £878; Transit 175 Custom van £1,324; Transit 15-seater bus £1,545.
At the same time Escort 6 and 8 cwt vans will now include, in some cases as standard, interior improvements. For the
6cwt van there is now a passenger comfort pack costing £37.80 which includes a heater, passenger seat, pvc doortrim, interior light and cab headlining. All these items are standard on the 8cwt model.
In addition, for both vehicles, there are custom pack options costing £26.78. These include luxury seats. new trim style, front over-riders, and chrome front and rear bumpers.
