SCHOOLS in north-east Scotland are having difficulty hiri buses for day trips because of the shortage of mechanics Grampian Region's transport department.
The department is having to operate peak-time services without its full fleet of buses and is also cutting back on organised tours.
Director of transport Jc Westaby said the major cal of the problem was not the per cent shortage of main nance men, but that it v being aggravated by a dela3 the delivery of new buses E the amount of work that 1 to be done for recertificat of the vehicles.
