failed JJ Adam • JJ Adam, the East Sussexbased haulage firm that went into receivership in February, has been sold to the Batley, West Yorkshire-based Acorn Haulage Corporation. The sale of the 32truck business was concluded on Tuesday (7 March).
Acorn's chairman Ken Hanson says J3 Adam offered a natural expansion for the firm into the South-east and will complement its other offices in Yorkshire and Scotland. All of the remaining 40 staff will be taken on, he says: 10 were made redundant when JJ Adam went into receivership.
Mark Shires of administrative receiver Coopers & Lybrand says he is delighted to have sold the 60-year-old haulage business for an undisclosed sum.
Acorn says JJ Adam will continue to trade under its own name, at least for the time being, to take advantage of its customer base in East Sussex.
