A SCAFFOLDER who failed to attend court to answer charges that he had been running a vehicle without an 0-licence or tachograph has been ordered to pay BOO in fines and costs.
Paul Bowman, trading as Bowman Scaffolding of Herne Bay, Kent, failed to appear at Marylebone Magistrate's Court and the case against him was proved in absence, Anthony Ostrin, prosecuting for Vosa, told the court that traffic examiner Frederick Linger checked a 7.5-tonner operated by Bowman that had been stopped in a roadside check.The vehicle was en route from Herne Bay to Hackney in East London laden with a wheelbarrow and scaffolding equipment.
No 0-licence identity disc was displayed on the vehicle; and when the examiner asked the driver to produce his tacho chart he was unable to do so.
Bowman was fined £400 for using the vehicle without an 0-licence and £250 for the tachograph offence with £250 costs.
