BBAGGED coal was now required by Yorkshire miners as they were being rehoused in modern premises and their fuel had to be carried upstairs instead of being tipped into cellars. This was the reason given for the need for an extra vehicle by Mr. R. Askew, Upton, near Pontefract, when he successfully applied to the Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority last week:
A branch secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers told the Authority that his 1,558 members had 1,100 tons of coal delivered to them each year by Mr. Askew. The application was unopposed.
