Krone's Safeliner with its rnonocoque space frame promises first class on-road stability, resistance to rear or side mpacts and decent payloads, depending on he body system chosen. Disc brakes and air uspension are electronically controlled and ts fully enclosed BPW running gear reduces cad spray in bad weather.
The space-frame also provides plenty of >eripheral stowage with parallel-lifting loors—enough, claims Krone, for up to six onnes of goods or equipment. Our judges vere impressed by the Safeliner's tructural strength and afety features.
Another great allounder is Utility's ZT lofted curtainsider. This atest supermarket version as an extra hat-shaped ide post with drop-down ;uards that locate into a pecially extruded side rave. 'hese trolley restraints can e stowed against the bulkead when not needed. Built to a BeeLine specifiation with BPW axles and uspension, the entry ieighs in at 6,62 tonnes to give it excellent payload potential.
The other finalist, Stas NV's impressive allaluminium Side-Walker trailer is a nicely engineered, highly versatile bit of kit that is very easily operated with remote or bulkheadmounted controls.
Its moving-slat floor can handle most bulk commodities, from woodchip to chipboard packs, and its lift-up side adds another loading dimension.
Using clever hinges, hydraulic linkages and locking mechanisms, its full-length alloy side lifts and folds onto the roof to take pallets or longer indivisible loads. These are lashed down securely inside and the side is lowered and locked in place by hydraulic clamps.
Although still a prototype this trailer dearly has immense potential.
